Unique Experiences
Day CaMPS
The KAN Centre offers a variety of day camps for children of all ages. We aim to create a memorable experience that engages children with nature, play and crafts. Each camp has their own unique theme and activities that nurtures the child’s curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Wild Child Summer Program
The children have the opportunity to engage positively with their natural environments; discovering all the wonders the outdoors has to offer. Through various fun activities, games, art, and discussions, children will learn about our native plants, animals, trees, and basic ecological concepts. They will connect using their body, heart and mind and be given the freedom to use their imagination, play and just enjoy being kids in the summertime! Join us for one of the following themed Wild Child weeks:
Yoga, Plant Magic & Theater: This unique camp brings the ancient gifts of yoga, plant
medicine, and artistic expression all into one amazing week. Nourish your body, mind, and soul!
Farm Camp at Fairlight Farm and Forest Centre: Come take part in the farm life! Campers will get to jump in and learn skills for self-sufficiency on the homestead through fun hands-on projects.
Eco-Explorers Week: We will explore the woods, tend our gardens, learn survival skills, and play games. Rain or shine we will venture out into the forests and fields to engage our hands, hearts, and minds. Come play outside with friends!
Folk Music & Nature Camp
This specialty camp has been designed around the vibrant culture of song and dance prevalent in the day-to-day KAN School culture. The three mediums: strings; voice and dance are harmonized throughout the week around the theme of folk music. Each day we will start with learning folk dances from simple circle dances to some fun contra & square dances enjoyed in the Maritime tradition of the area. Then we’ll break off into music workshops in small groups. Additionally all campers will adventure out into the field and forest for games, exploration and fun. The camp has been designed to be inclusive for both amateur and experienced musicians. The registration forms for this camp request detailed information regarding your campers musical experience and interest – to guide our musical selections and planning. We can hardly wait to sing, play and dance together!
Unique Experiences
overnight CaMPS
The KAN Centre has been expanding our selection of overnight camps to give children of all ages the opportunity to camp under the stars and on the forest floor! Whether it’s rekindling or creating a relationship with nature, campers will be outside, rain or shine, learning new skills, crafting, playing games, and singing songs.
Ancestral Skills
Come together with a community of friends and build your very own base camp at the edge of the woods. During the day we will play active woods games, and learn basic wilderness skills like how to whittle, cook over the campfire and furnish your base camp with basic supplies for staying our final night together in the woods! Watch the moon rise over the open meadow and sleep under the whispering spruce & fir, in self-made shelters you will be proud of!
Teen Overnight
Explore the St. Croix Waterway with us! Canoe along the river and explore the islands during this two night excursion. Teens will hone their ability to navigate waterways, learn to thrive in the wilderness with minimal gear and sleep under the stars. All experience levels are welcome; campers should be ready for physical adventure and sleeping outdoors far from any amenities.
Youth Leadership
Hands on leadership and eco-stewardship training that is at the heart of our summer program offerings. Build experience in land skills, handcrafts and working as a team including building trails, gardens & outdoor infrastructure. If interested in a leadership position for the KAN Centre Summer Programs, an opportunity will be provided at the end of this camp to apply.
