This symposium will bring together people who have a keen interest and love for the natural forests of our region.  Community organizers, native plant growers, ecologists, local businesses and landowners… we are calling on your participation to create a vibrant connected community working together to restore the Wabanaki forest.  Come to workshops on growing native trees & shrubs and forest restoration design; learn from botanist Jim Goltz about the diversity of native plants and be inspired by people who are engaged with restoration and reconciliation of our relationship with the land.

The event is a free/by donation event.

Donations will be accepted via etransfer to admin@knowlesvillenature.ca to raise matching funds to further the forest restoration efforts in the Wolastoq Watershed by the Knowlesville Art & Nature Forest Restoration team.

Registration for exhibition booths are now full! Thank you for your interest!

What is the Wabanaki Forest?

The Wabanaki forest covers the unceeded territory of the Mi’kmaw, Wolatoqiyik, Passamaquoddy, Penobscot and Abenaki Nations and includes a unique and diverse blend of hardwood and boreal forest species.  Dominated by long-lived trees such as pine, hemlock, cedar, spruce and several hardwood species, the Wabanaki forest once spanned the whole Maritime region.  This is an incredibly diverse and abundant forest, with over 30 species of native tree species and hundreds of supporting plants that make up the ecosystem which supports diverse ecological, cultural and recreational values.

How guests can be involved:

  • Attend the exhibition and participate in the presentations to learn and to build connections with people who are passionate about the forest ecosystem
  • Attend the dinner and keynote speaker to show your support for restoring the Wabanaki Forest
  • Purchase a restoration plant bundle, become a partner and sign up to join the KANC Restoration Team in restoration efforts on your own land or in the community
