Reimagining and Restoring the Armond Schoolhouse and creating the Knowlesville Nature Campus: A hub for sustainable & regenerative learning!
The Armond School House
This historic school house has been maintained for over 40 years by the efforts of the Armond School Community group, an unincorporated association that was comprised of alumni of rural schools in the area. For decades, the school was opened on Canada Day and tours given as an annual school reunion picnic. However, the association was disbanded in 2023 due to aging and the passing of members in the group.
The president of the association approached the Knowlesville Art & Nature Centre to see if we would be interested in the building. The Board of Directors of the KANC have agreed to take ownership of the building and a MOU has been signed with the hope that we can raise the funds needed to move the building and design a multipurpose off-grid conference centre that will become central to our Nature Campus goals, while simultaneously preserving the local history and character of this building.

Nature Campus Project
The Armond School move and retrofit is the central piece of a larger plan to expand the Knowlesville Art and Nature Centre (KANC) to the Knowlesville Nature Campus to showcase best in class sustainable and off grid practices. This will be a multi-purpose hub for creativity, community, education and celebration.
As of September 2025, the historical one-room schoolhouse has been relocated from the neighboring community of Armond will to Knowlesville. The KANC has begun work on restoring and improving the structure of the building to optimize energy efficiency and renewable energy sourced integration.
There is still a long way to go, and we can use your help to get there! We are in need of financial, and skills/labour donations to make this vision come to life!
