Forest Kindergarten Assistant Teacher

The Knowlesville Art and Nature School is actively seeking a forest kindergarten assistant teacher.

 We are seeking an experienced teacher who loves being outdoors & learning by doing things hands on & through storytelling. The ideal teacher is fun-loving, enthusiastic, warm, with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, effective positive group management skills, musicality, and strength in science, math and language arts. It is our desire to hire a qualified individual committed to assisting our Kindergarten program and working with our education team to assist with the celebration of seasonal festivals, workshops and events.

This contract will begin on January 5th, 2026 with a staff prep day. Classes start Tuesday, January 6th. January 5th and June 15th are also expected work days.  Contract goes from Jan 5th to June 15th, 2026.

Hiring process begins immediately and will close once an ideal candidate is found.

Job Expectations:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and be enthusiastic about being outside in all weather (rain, snow, sleet, heat, bugs, etc).

Candidates with Early Childhood Education, Enki or Waldorf teacher training certification or equivalent credentials are strongly preferred.

If the candidate does not have experience specifically in Enki they will be asked to co-invest in training.  Ecosystems of Education is being offered in the winter of 2026 and a successful candidate for this position will be strongly encouraged to take this course (more information as well as cost is available at www.enkieducation.org)

Additional Considerations:

While there is room for some occasional exceptions, the classroom is essentially a technology free zone

Parent involvement is welcomed in the school and teachers often work directly and on a daily basis with parent volunteers

Tuesdays -Thursdays
9:00 am – 3:00 pm daily
Contract runs from January 5 – June 15
$17.00/hour with 4% vacation pay top up
In-Person, ability to travel daily to location required
Requirements:
Abilities in vocal and instrumental music and visual art
Ability to create a warm, gentle and structured learning environment
Strong organizational skills and energy for working in a vibrant community-‐based school
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, colleagues and parents
Resourcefulness, flexibility and creativity in problem solving given the opportunities and challenges of pioneering an alternative vision and approach to education
A clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening done within the past 12 months and CPR First Aid Training
